Tender: nearshore floating solar technology projects
Please find below the link on a Preliminary Market Consultation (PMC) that was officially launched on January 31, 2024, by the Regulator for Energy and Water Services (REWS) on behalf of the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Grand Harbor Regeneration, inviting interested operators to submit proposals for floating solar technology projects, including photovoltaic farms, within the sea area extending up to Malta’s territorial waters.
The deadline for proposal submissions is set for April 24, 2024.
The purpose of this PMC is to gauge the market readiness for nearshore floating solar technology projects, including photovoltaic farms. The call for proposals is applicable within the territorial waters which are covered by Chapter 226 (Territorial Waters and Contiguous Zone Act) of the Maltese law. Malta’s Strategic Plan for Environment and Development (SPED) adopted by Government in July of 2015, in line with the Development Planning Act, also already indicates the use of the same area for renewable energy generation.
The Contracting Authority is seeking best practices. Economic operators are encouraged to recommend their own solar technology project methodologies based on their experience. The information to be received in response to this PMC will assist the project team in finalizing the scope of work and requirements, which may be used at a future date in the issuance of a competitive call for offers.
It is important to note that in order to receive and submit a response to this PMC, Economic Operators must register through government's tenders website.
